It’s also a good story, and would hold the reader’s interest even if he or she had no prior knowledge of Sufism. The other hidden pocket contained another version of events, both historical and familial, which gave glimmerings of significance that seemed to indicate that in all the dreadful business of living and the great wasted tracts of enjoyment, that there was meaning to be found and that illumination would one day emblazon both the road and the landscape.

Well-written novel about the Sufi path. I am a Christian and this book changed my entire perception of Islam.

It’s obviously a fictionalized version of the author’s discovery of Sufism and Islam, and Dallas has written in such a way that the reader gets a true feeling of the seeker’s contact with the mystical tradition of Sufism.
