Overall, the narrator sounded bored and did nothing to improve the story. It even brushes with homosexuality acceptance a bit. Just in the nick of time, the law comes in and puts a stop to the situation.
Did The Temptation of Elminster inspire you to do anything? I love it I enjoyed this book. And if you are describing elmminster fight scene with magic, use transitory phrases so we know what on earth is going on He goes to sleep and then wakes up. Scenes and fights started seeming repetitive.
However, I hated Elminster so much that I created a Daleland called Darkdale that existed in a cavern underneath Shadowdale where Elminster lives and made it a complete opposite of Shadowdale, right down to the powerful, evil, undead sorcerer that lived there. The result of his labors is a world reborn and a mage made.
May 04, Brenda rated it really liked it. It doesn’t help that the hero is the greatest Gary Stu in the Forgotten Realms universe, who will make it unscathed in the end. His voice was perfect like he was meant to Elminstsr this story. Next, Elminster has joined a group of Robinhood like mercenaries. One of my all time favourite books. It felt like it was being read by Ben Stein, dry and bland.

They live in hiding from the uncle as outlaws or somthing. Despite having nothing other than Elminster and SkyMall magazine to read during takeoff and landing I officially, disgustedly, completely gave up on Elminster on page ; wherein Elminster gets turned into a girl and is SO totally diggin’ the boobs, man.

Thanks to audio books I get too catch up on some books that I’ve been putting off for awhile now. Needless to say I didn’t continue this series. Additionally, in true Greenwood fashion, he is completely willing to tackle gender and sex issues.
There wasn’t enough elmibster for emlinster and Elminster was so lame. It is the time before Myth Drannor, when the Heartlands are home to barbarians, and wicked dragons rule the skies.

He gives up his thrown to one of the more noble side characters, and goes on his way He meets a soldier or mercenary or something, who gruffly tells him a bit about his heritage. This 10 because I am in a Foreign Land and have read every other English-language book immediately available and what else am I supposed to do when soaking in a jacuzzi while sipping a screwdriver?
Greenwood should have had a better writer, and with more distance and less love of the character, write this. I only mention it beacuse, honestly, why do I read any of these books? The other aspect I do not like is Elminster, pure and simple.
It jumped all over the place all the time introducing characters I had to rewind to figure out where they were coming from and why they mattered. I had high hopes for this book.
