I enjoyed book 1, Body Check, but had some serious issues with it too.
New York Blades Series by Deirdre Martin
She sticks to her guns and goes out with some loser called Reese aka ‘Fleece’. I didn’t like Theresa that much. I’ll read the next Deirdre Martin book in the series ‘Fair Play’ and then I think it’s time for a change of pace. I don’t know how many times I’ve re-read this. But he wasn’t dressed casually in jeans and a tennis shirt. I had my problems with Janna, too, but I’ll get to those in a minute.
And what’s with all the prejudices she has? I didn’t even finish the book in a day – which is unusual of me.
Tentative romance ensues, as do hockey-themed double entendres: See all 82 reviews. I loved their story and I really loved how Ty and the other players stood up for Janna’s friend. I stumbled across Body Check and grabbed it.
They made me laughed a lot. Exactly the kind of story that keeps me coming back for more. Janna MacNeil is simply trying to do her job but finds herself constantly up against the icy ooh, a pun! If you compare Janna and Theresa and the way they handle situations, the 2nd book is a complete disaster compared to the 1st one.
His stubborn refusal to give up on this wisecracking yprk, who—he knows—is hiding from her roots, is driving them both nuts. A couple of the players continue bldaes misbehave causing more work for Janna. The characters will seduce you and the story will impress you She was a kick-ass character in the first book, but after what happened with the Russian, she’s been all over the map in this one.
She had a bad experience with a pushy guy, and this one thinks that jumping her every way posible, will give him deirddre chance!

It doesn’t make sense and it is not reasonable for her to expect more than just a casual relationship from Ty when that is what she JUST agreed to. There just weren’t enough good points in this book to enjoy nartin, and the bad points offended me too much to ignore them. Not because I felt the first book was hard to top, but because the heroine, Theresa, was so bland as a character. Janna MacNeil i… More. Her play, Spin Cycle, about two lonely people at a laundromat, was subsequently performed in a theater space in downtown Buffalo.
I could understand how some readers could dislike or be turned off by how it was dealt with in the aftermath but I took it all at face value, really. But I decided to give the series another try and I picked up Fair Play.
