Durham emails are funny, thoughtful, amusing, insightful and frequently ma ‘Dear Dylan’ was a surprising and delightfully heartwarming read with a wonderful central character who by the end of the book felt like an old friend.

I was pleasantly surprised to find how easy it was to read and how touching the story was. I loved how funny and lively she was even with the tragic events among the happy ones unfolding in front of her and how she found such a great friend in Nan.

Habe ich alles nicht bekommen. Having done it the way she has in email format might be hard at first to get into, but in the end worked pretty well for me as a reader. Many thanks to Siobhan who sent me a copy! Jamie is such a caring, teenage boy and even with Georgie’s crush on Dylan, I wouldn’t want her to end up with any other boy than Jamie!

Thanks so much for your email and I’m sorry about my last one when I said I love you. I am absolutely amazed to hear this book was originally self-published. And Georgie just wants to act, overcome the shadow of someone who’s more of an enemy than a friend to her and be free of a family that was slowly falling apart. To have a cruel stepfather and a mother who couldn’t even find time to be one, Georgie had big shoes to fill in, and it wasn’t easy for a teenager to do.


He was a vile, repulsive, evil minded man who I could tell from the beginning didn’t care a jot for Georgie or her mum. Further more, I liked how Siobhan addressed abusive situations in Georgie’s life, as well as toxic friendships, because I feel like it leaves teens who are facing similar issues to not feel so alone. I really enjoyed Dear Dylan by Siobhan Curham. I knew what she must’ve been going through – but that didn’t stop me from wanting to reach through the pages and shake her for not seeing sense!
