Joan D. Vinge is an American science fiction author. She is known for such works as her Hugo Cat. Psion (); Catspaw (); Dreamfall (). Cat’s paw is a phrase derived from La Fontaine’s fable, “The Monkey and the Cat” , referring to a person used unwittingly or unwillingly by another to accomplish the other’s own purpose. Filled with thrills, this book gets my highest recommendation for straight out excitement and fun. Psion is the first book in the series of books about Cat. Catspaw by Joan D.
On the positive side, Cat does go through a world of hell. He loses every fight. Psion is about a street kid who is half alien. I am extremely picky about the rating of the content in a book and I am morally bias, both of which reflect the rating.
Feb 27, Daniel Franks rated it really liked it. An omnibus collection of Cat’s Paw and Psion. I bought this for my Kindle Fire just to have it near me, sort of inviting an old friend on a long trip. I was pleased that there was a short story at the end of the book as it continues Cat’s story and is really needed to bridge between this and the next one in the series. Soon Cat is chasing many mysteries–not only is he trying to find and stop Elnear’s would-be murderer, but he’s looking for ways to expose Elnear’s political rival as a bigot, trying to get access to stronger drugs, and searching for the mysterious additional psion among the taMings.
His struggle against the hard world he lives in, and his difficulty in finding his way, made his story utterly compelling. But if you stop calling a villain a villain, what is he? After that first encounter, I reread it, and the book prior to and the two books that catspae after it, far more times than I can remember. If I can’t empathize, I don’t care.

It made me feel like I was in the thick of it with him, trying to figure out what was going on. Published November 23rd by Tor Books first published September 1st Get to Know Us. Fine in fine dustwrapper. I watched them get smaller and smaller as they went down the hallway, leaving me there without a word, not even looking back.

Psion (Cat, #1) by Joan D. Vinge
After some persuasion, Cat agrees to take the job, and they provide drugs that let him use his telepathic talent even though he destroyed it killing someone in the first book. Vinge created an incredible combination of well-rounded characters, reflections on human nature, swift pacing, cattspaw complex world-building, all in pages. I can’t wait to read them!
