Introduction to Electrodynamics
That’s a shame, because it meant missing the heart of the textbook, even though the author tries to give geometrical and intuitive explanations too where at all possible. David’s notation is better, except that the r-prime for location of charge and the r-prime for r variable under the integral sign can be confused when you’re just quickly looking something electrodgnamics.
He writes to the lntroduction, saying how “you” need to do this, and sometimes how “I” prefer to do that. Doing the exercises is like unwrapping a present; each leading the student to discover some new and ibtroduction facet of the material most recently presented. I also walked out of the exam with an A, yay me!
I wish I had read it when, I first heard about electromagnetic fields. All in all, it is certainly one of the best books on Electromagnetism out there.

The best part about this for me was the chapter on Vector Analysis which most book fails at since vector is core to understanding Electrodynamics and this book devotes an entire chapter for learning vectors. Griffiths strikes a really accessible balance between explaining concepts thoroughly and keeping the subject matter moving.
It was so good, I read it twice! Field and Wave Electromagnetics by David K. This book is the paragon of fine textbook writing. Want to Read saving…. If he could have just made the special relativity part higher level and added more exercises for Mikowski-Raum in order it to be -for anyone- easier with 4th-dimensional problems.
Share a link to All Resources. Some people are somewhat put off by the informal, conversational writing style, the way it forces you to work through problems rather than handing everything to you, and it’s somewhat non-standard notation. You can derive them all from Maxwell’s equations.

Introduction to Electrodynamics, 4th Edition
Citations of recent literature appear throughout for those who wish to pursue a particular topic in greater depth. Equations and theorems are documented in such a way that they can be introduuction effortlessly.
It can be more useful if used with “Classical Mechanics” by Taylor. Also the 4th edition is a bit thinner and has a way nicer cover. Shankar’s “Principles of Quantum Mechanics” offers a nice introduction ti underlying prerequisite …more Haven’t read it in its entirety yetbut R. I am taking a class involving this book again, and have been reacquainted with how awesome it is.
