Helen is a being of Light. Her feelings of possessiveness and love for her hosts is so complex. Speaking of, I think it managed the separation between Helen and James really well – they had so much to resolve for themselves and for their hosts that they couldn’t always be together, even tinieblaz the end of things.

The characters become painfully real, extremely likeable, and the obstacles they go through are unimaginable. So perhaps I was biased going into it. Helen coexists with them in kind of a symbiotic way, she feels safe with them, and the loneliness is tolerable because the hosts she’s with are good people, people she cares for very much. I loved that other events interacted with their story and it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies for a change. So just quickly, it’s about a ghost with no recollection of her death who clings to humans to Well, if I had one word to describe this book it would be Weird.
If she had taken a couple of these story elements or conflicts and fleshed them out further, perhaps I would have loved this book instead of merely liking it. As we learn more of her struggles in her previous life, in the manner of her death and her overwhelmingly lonely, terrifying, existence since, you begin to understand why she is so sad and guarded. I’m a little worried it won’t be as good as Certain Slant. I may have to buy my own copy, as I was so enamored, captivated, and inspired by the authors’ prose.
